AiB has a number of statutory responsibilities under the Bankruptcy Act. In addition to these there are other pieces of legislation which affect the service AiB provides and the way it operates. One such piece of legislation is the Regulation of Investigatory Powers (Scotland) Act 2000, which governs the use of covert surveillance of individuals and the employment of covert human intelligence sources.
