The plan sets out an overview of actions and objectives for the year.

Accountant in Bankruptcy Chief Executive, Dr Richard Dennis, sets out the business plan for the next 12 months.

Background

AiB is an executive agency of the Scottish Government and is responsible for the:

  • administration of the Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS), personal insolvency, and recording of corporate insolvencies in Scotland
  • development of policy for personal insolvency, Debt Arrangement Scheme and diligence in Scotland
  • supervision of the bankruptcy process

AiB does this through its three strategic purposes:

  • deliver core products
  • continuous improvement
  • stakeholder engagement

AiB's role is also to support ministers in the development of policy in our areas. We help to deliver the Programme for Government and contribute to meeting Scotland’s National Performance Framework, which sets out the purpose and values we uphold.

We also contribute towards the Scottish Government’s vision ‘In the service of Scotland.’ This sets out the type of organisation we need to be, and how we will work together to achieve the national outcomes for Scotland and improve the lives of the people of Scotland.

This follows the approach adopted last year, reflecting the Advisory Board’s desire to make AiB's continuous improvement agenda more transparent and more measurable.

How AiB will deliver in 2024-25

This year's plan focuses on six actions to be delivered over the coming year, alongside ongoing business objectives.

Success in delivering these actions and delivering our key performance indicators (KPIs) will place AiB in a stronger place to face any future challenges.

AiB exists to deliver the casework and regulation of Scotland’s statutory debt relief and debt management products, including the moratorium, bankruptcy, DAS and protected trust deeds, and the related public registers.

Most of our effort in the coming year will remain on delivering these efficiently and effectively, meeting customer needs as best we can, and ensuring AiB has the support and the resources necessary to keep on doing so.

We aim to improve our performance by delivering the six actions and our core business objectives.
