Who are the events aimed at?

Anyone interested or involved in debt or money advice services in Scotland.

This is of particular value to those in the insolvency profession, those working in financial, legal, credit and advice services, sector regulators, debt help charities, local authorities, local government recovery specialists and other social policy makers.

How do these events work?

Each event focuses around discussion workshops where attendees will be given the option to choose a morning and afternoon workshop which interests them. Outside the workshops, panel discussions and informal discussions offer attendees the further opportunity to interact with us and relatable stakeholders.

Food and refreshments will be provided.

What will be discussed?

Introduction

Our main session at the start of the day will be chaired by Richard Dennis, Chief Executive and The Accountant in Bankruptcy. Richard will be updating stakeholders on what's new and seeking views on how these things might influence the future of debt relief and debt management in Scotland. There will be speakers on the Standard Financial Statement and an introduction to the overall theme for the day on improving engagement.

The Bankruptcy and Diligence Bill

Russell Haddow represents AiB Policy Development team and was at the sharp end of developing the Bill which was introduced to the Scottish Parliament in April 2023. This is a further chance for stakeholders to engage on what the Bill means to and how legislative changes impact you.

A main feature within the Bill is the introduction of the mental health moratorium and this will be a key focus for the group. It will also be an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the Common Financial Tool and a possible move to the Standard Financial Statement which was proposed in the recent consultation ‘Scotland’s statutory debt solutions and diligence: policy review response’.

AiB I.T systems

Brian Kennedy and/or Steven Taylor will be leading the discussion around the systems we all depend on in the delivery of bankruptcy, protected trust deeds, and the Debt Arrangement Scheme. This is an opportunity to hear about AiB’s move to the cloud and what benefits that will bring. It also provides the chance to discuss what might be done to improve the systems from the perspective of external users, how we communicate issues between stakeholders and AiB and other .IT issues, such as date security and AiB website.

Bankruptcy - Debtor applications and evidence requirements

Insolvency Registrations Team leader Tommy Taylor would like to talk with stakeholders about what works well and not so well with the debtor application process. This is your opportunity to contribute your ideas for improvements and efficiencies to the process for your clients through collaboration and understanding of the information and evidence requirements.

How do I sign up?
